The members of Let's Go Fishing With
Seniors would like to use this as a memorial page for those who have
touched our hearts in so many special ways
Loren “Bart” James Bartels, age 76
of Swatara, Minn., died Sunday, April 12, 2009 at Grand Village and Lodge
in Grand Rapids, Minn.
Loren was born in 1933 to Orville and Josephine Bartels in Jamestown, N.D.
He grew up and attended schools in Cohasset and graduated from Grand
Rapids High School before enlisting in the U.S. Navy. He worked as a
construction foreman and superintendent for many years for several of the
large construction companies in the Twin Cities. With his former wife
June, they raised the five children in Blaine, Minn. Following his
retirement, Loren moved to the Hill City area where he enjoyed hunting,
fishing and the outdoors. Loren was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose
in Grand Rapids and was active with starting the “Let’s Go Fishing”
chapter for seniors in Grand Rapids. Loren worked hard for our
organization when it was in its first stages. "Bart" helped at the fish
fries and at shows. "Bart" went to Duluth with Joe Holm to help him with a
show there at the DECC. "Bart" co captained a couple of times during our
first summer. Loren “Bart” James Bartels will be sadly missed by all
that knew him.
